Medical Administration/Specimen Collection Specialist

Contract Opportunity

This position will start 01/04/2021

Position Overview: Performs drug and alcohol tests for employee testing program (50-60% of the time). Administrative Support for Substance Prevention Program (40-50% of the time) with tasks including: developing PowerPoint presentations, tracking metrics, gathering, and analyzing data, filing, and supply ordering and inventory. Supports business units with coordinating testing and creating authorization forms. All collection testing equipment is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform drug screen collections following DOT specimen collection guidelines, which may include direct observation collections when needed.
  • Some travel around the Houston area is required for specimen collection at other offices (5%). Travel for offsite meetings/conferences may be requested.
  • Perform breath alcohol testing.
  • Perform oral fluids and hair collections.
  • Report problems with collection following chain-of-command.
  • Create and format PowerPoint presentations to promote substance prevention.
  • Order, track, and inventory supplies needed for testing.
  • Organize inventory closets, scan, and upload historical records.
  • Support educational events, health fairs, social media posting.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings. Document and track action items.

Key Required Qualifications:

  • Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Windows applications including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, email operations, Web Based applications, electronic chain of custody, data entry, and data analytics.
  • Professionalism and Confidentiality: Candidate should be familiar with HIPAA laws, medical confidentiality, and drug testing regulations.
  • Must adhere to strict collection practices while treating employees with respect, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Attention to Detail: Competency in electronic chain of custody (ECCF) and collection procedures.
  • Collection Competency: Hold DOT specimen collection, Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certifications or willing to obtain within 30-days.
  • Candidate is required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing. Will be enrolled in random drug testing program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current DOT specimen collection and Breath Alcohol Technician certification • Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse’s aide

• 3-5 years’ experience in specimen collection

• 3-5 years’ administrative experience.
