Job Description

  • Company is seeking an experienced Technical Assistant to support MCBU. The Mid-Continent Midland Basin NOJV Team leads asset management for all non-operated acreage in the Midland Basin unconventional shale resources. The unconventional team has a significant portion of the MCBU capital and production budget. This position requires an experienced candidate with proven technical and data management skills. The preference is for a candidate with unconventional tight rock and shale experience and knowledge of database management, data entry and asset development/operational workflows.
  • The position coordinates data management requirements with multiple company engineers, geologists, and technical assistants, as well as with support teams (land, finance, etc.) and external operators who provide production and well data. The position is responsible for retrieving engineering and geologic data from multiple platforms, data entry, data interpretation and properly distributing information to technical teams and systems of record. The candidate is expected to handle a diverse workload and multiple tasks, and to effectively interact with various internal and external contacts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data entry is extremely important This position will consist of completion information, drilling information, and production information.
  • Desirable is proficiency with data mining and QC from public, other company, and CVX sources (production, D&C)
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and the ability to work with multi-discipline peers, managers, engineers, earth scientists, land, finance, auditors, and planners. Interacts positively with people in other work groups
  • Experience engaging with other employees on database systems and engaging external customers
  • Demonstrates ability to view situation and determine appropriate solution.
  • Effectively manages time and resources. Prioritizes, makes preparations, plans/schedules, leverages resources.
  • Manages multiple tasks without difficulty. Delivers work on time.
  • Customer focus: Must be proactive to seek customers (ES and PE teams) to support each team member. Must be willing to expand scope and proactively help petro-techs.

Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of overall technical assistant experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) - provide quality checked tables and accurate with detailed data entry.
  • Experience retrieving engineering and geologic data from multiple platforms, interpreting the data, and properly distributing to technical teams and systems of record. This includes experience with Well Production History
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Candidates local to Midland/Odessa are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with database management
  • Experience with Peloton (Similar to WellView)
  • Desirable is understanding of oilfield terminology and concepts.
  • Knowledge of operations, processes, and accounting requirements.
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree- Science technology, engineering, or mathematics is preferred
  • Education: High School Degree or GED required
