Project Scheduler/Planner
Contract Opportunity
Midland, TX (local candidates only)

This position reports to the Project Controls Team Lead for the unconventional factory model. This position ensures timely maintenance and delivery of an integrated Execution schedule by leveraging both cross-functional team inputs and Playbooks for Drilling, Completions, and Facility/Infrastructure activities. Provides summary view and reporting of Permian Basin Unconventional Program Execution to enable prioritization of projects and optimization of resources i.e. drilling rigs, frac crews, and facility location. Provides scenario planning schedules for both functional and factory Performance Teams. Position is expected to proactively identify external impacts and risk mitigate commercial oil and gas take away, water supply and disposal. Position is expected to drive improvements with project reporting and drive the integration of Primavera with other applications. Involves integration in Performance Teams to support funding allocations and cost control. The Planner/Scheduler is a member of a multi-functional team to support, deliver and apply tools-processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall, integrated execution schedule throughout the project cycle.
  • Facilitate weekly status meetings with various functional teams.
  • Produce weekly cross-functional support and resource reports.
  • Analyze the scheduling plans and schedule updates for comparison to reported progress and alignment of other project controls discipline forecasts.
  • Analyze daily/weekly/monthly progress reports to ensure accuracy and provide proper input into company’s overall project reporting.
  • Effectively communicate, both written and verbal, in a cross-functional environment and possess strong presentation skills.
  • Express proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Perform critical path and earned value analysis to determine problem areas regarding project schedules and resource overloads; alerts the project team to critical scheduling issues and potential alternatives.
  • Demonstrate experience with cost control and variance analysis at different project phases through execution.
  • Evaluate project deviations to assess schedule and scope impact for proper decision making.
  • Proficient in specified software including, but not limited to, Primavera, MS Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and OneNote.

Key Qualifications:

  • 4 Year Degree in Engineering, Finance or Business related preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Primavera or other scheduling software in Project Scheduling roles for upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Minimum of years of experience with formal Planning and Scheduling systems. Expert skill with industry leading Planning and Scheduling software implementation and use (i.e. Primavera 6). Working knowledge with spreadsheets and computer skills (MS Office Suite, OneNote). Ability to analyze-critique schedules to ensure accuracy and must have knowledge of baselining, specialized reporting, resource loading and resource leveling. Knowledge of industry-professional scheduling trends and best practices.
  • Industry and Project Experience: Experience with project management systems, principles and related processes, practices and tools. Has oil and gas project experience, participation in execution phase of capital projects in planning, scheduling, cost engineering and/or project management roles. Demonstrated experience with cost control & variance analysis at different project phases through execution.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and react to needs, problems, process improvement opportunities or change needs in area of expertise. Demonstrated ability to engage others in problem resolution and to consider problems, solutions, and changes with a holistic planning and scheduling mindset. Leverages sources of expertise and previous learnings from other functional professionals/interface groups and works with key individuals to gain support for the solution, change, and/or mitigation plan.
  • Communications and Teamwork: Ability to work across multi-functional teams in multiple locations to support & deliver schedule for project performance assessment and reporting. Strong interpersonal-communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interface with key schedule stakeholders and facilitate work teams to provide planning and performance data in support of project performance assessment and reporting requirements. Strong presentation skills.

    • CSOC Regular certification preferred
    • Primavera Advanced training: P6 Rev. 16.2 Advanced Project Management preferred
